Justice
by the People
Curriculum from the American Board of Trial Advocates
(ABOTA)
Justice by the People has been
developed by the Foundation of the American Board of Trial Advocates to
teach students about one of their most important rights as citizens: trial
by jury. Most of today's students will be called to serve on juries
at some point in their lives. For many, it is the principle way,
other than by voting, of directly participating in the democratic process.
Jury service imposes an awesome responsibility on citizens to make decisions
that are fair and just. The goal of Justice
by the People is to help students understand the history
and value of their constitutional right to trial by jury.
