1999 Minnesota Youth Legislative Summit

February 25, 1999

On February 25, 1999 200 students from across Minnesota came together to discuss HF0183.  The bill would modify conditions for parental consent to voluntary admission for chemical dependency treatment of certain minors under the civil commitment and treatment act.

In plain English, it changes the age at which a youth can refuse chem dep treatment from 16 to 18.

On April 12, 1999 the Governor signed HF0183 into law.  The change becomes affective August 1, 1999.
